Movie Night Rescheduled to Oct. 20 and Book Fair Extended

Good evening, Sequoia Families!

As a result of the continued poor air quality and the ongoing wildfires, schools will be closed again tomorrow, Friday, October 13. Your child’s safety was the primary factor leading to this decision.

As a result, we are also rescheduling our Annual Movie Night for NEXT Friday, October 20, and we are extending our Book Fair to run through next Friday. Times will be the same, with the Book Fair open from 5-8 pm and the movie starting in the MUR at 6 pm

Mark your calendars. The Sequoia Book Fair and Movie Night is just around the corner, October 13! The fair is great through its entirety, but especially on opening night. The library buzzes with activity, families enjoy pizza and popcorn, which is on sale at the event, and parents and students socialize in the MUR before the movie begins. This year's movie is SING, a fun movie enjoyable for all ages!

This Saturday, an army of volunteers-- families, students, teachers, staff, high schoolers, and community members, banded together to beautify our school! Led by our generals (thank you Tully, Franke, Reno, and Mims families), we trimmed, weeded, dug holes (Ms. Gascot swung that pickaxe!), planted, hauled new soil, watered, swept, blew debris, and recycled cardboard, plant containers, and plant materials. The only thing we threw away to the landfill was an old garden hose! An advance team moved and organized all the PE equipment to the new container; our Special Ops crew assembly-lined our new STEAM stools together. Many thanks to everyone, including SPA, Republic Services for the dumpster and advice, and the Franke family for obtaining soil and free plants. (Let me know if I missed somebody.)

Sincerely,

Ms. Risken, Mrs. Altman, and Mrs. Spakowsky

We’re adding an evening session to All-In-One Day. We’ll open the MUR doors again at 6pm and close at them 7:30.  We have fewer volunteers for this session, so we need to limit the number of registrants.  We’ll be able to accommodate 20 families for each half hour we are open.

Please access this form to reserve your spot. When available slots fill up, the option to select will no longer appear in the form.

Hello Sequoia Elementary families! Within the first week of August, the district will be mailing home the Demographic Update form to students' home addresses. (We will not print them out and hand them to you at the office - they must be mailed to you as a double check that you live at the address we have on file.)

Parents/guardians must review the document carefully, adding, deleting, or changing the required information. The form must be signed and dated, and brought to All in One Day (AIOD) and given to the staff in order to receive your student's teacher assignment. Teacher assignments WILL NOT BE GIVEN OUT WITHOUT THIS DOCUMENT.

IF you are unable to attend AIOD, please bring your Demographic Update form to the office before August 17th. We can release your student's teacher assignment to the parent after August 17th.

IF you have moved over the summer, you must bring 2 proofs of your new address to the office once we re-open on August 1st Please see the website for the list of acceptable documents.

Hope this information is helpful!
